Pirate radio targeted SUPRA 89.7 FM a license community station of Valdosta-Lowndes County

For several months, the bilingual community radio station of Lowndes County-Valdosta, SUPRA 89.7 FM has been subject to serious interference caused by illegal broadcasting or Pirate Radio, that has popped up in the middle of nowhere recently.

According to Paula Greer “these Pirate Radio operates illegally in the radio spectrum causing serious damage to our radio SUPRA 89.7 FM signal. Also, our organization Valdosta Alliance has to invest a lot of money to buy new equipment and antenna arrays to be able to fight those interference.

“We have expended more than $15, 000.00 recently in order to overcome this malice, intended to disrupt our community radio”.

Greer said that these illegal broadcasts have been detected in the cities of Lakeland and Naylor. Also, there is a third one that has not been located yet. But we are working to crack down on those illegal transmissions.

One of the illegal radio stations operating from Lakeland city on 89.7 FM, preventing our listeners from listing our radio services providing news, Christian Gospel, local programming and entertainment. This illegal broadcasting, identified itself as LCN INTERNET TALK STATION is powered by a suspicious and unregistered company, called LANIER COUNTY NETWORK, which is seriously affecting our primary contour in the east and south area of the city of Valdosta.
