KEISHA LANCE BOTTOMS: THE CHOICE FOR HISPANIC COMMUNITY IN GEORGIA

Valdosta, GA – Democratic gubernatorial candidate Keisha Lance Bottoms is firmly committed to ending ICE-related policies and bringing progress to the Latino community—a community hit hard by the Trump administration and its anti-immigrant agenda.
During a well-attended campaign event in Valdosta, the Democratic candidate was questioned by journalist Frank Greer from the community radio station SUPRA 89.7 FM. In response, she expressed her intention to terminate contracts with ICE, stating her goal to "get ICE out of our cities and jails."
There are multi-million dollar contracts—involving both odd money and good money.
She also distinguished herself from her opponent, Republican candidate Rick Jackson—who has campaigned on a platform of "Deported or departed"—characterizing him as a puppet for the Trump administration’s policies.
Keisha Lance Bottoms stated that ICE has created a crisis of family separation. She argued that targeting dangerous criminals cannot be used as a pretext to attack the Hispanic community—a practice she described as disgraceful—especially when it affects those who go out to work to provide for their families.
Furthermore, she intends to review state police policies and contracts to ensure that ICE-related mandates do not drain the resources of local law enforcement agencies, which are currently being diverted to perform the functions of ICE.
