Two (2) local pirate radios which were interfering and causing severe damage to the Valdosta community radio station SUPRA 89.7FM got shut down following a formal complaint filed to the Federal Communication Commission.
“From now on, listeners can experience better signal and sound though the city and Lowndes County.”
After a new article goes viral, the association of engineers get involved and move to shut down immediately those illegal broadcasts operating in the Lowndes County area.
One of the stations reported was identified as LCN internet Talk Station of Lakeland and the other one was broadcasting from a Baptist church from Naylor.
In the month of September 2025, Valdosta Alliance Inc (VAI) had made public its concern about those pirate radios interfering with its radio broadcasting, according to news published by local newspaper Valdosta Daily Times of Valdosta.
According to Paula Greer, General Manager of VAI, that community radio station was targeted from the beginning from those malicious broadcasts, which forced the radio station to change its frequency from 103.7 FM to 89.7 FM.
“All those broadcasts have been set intentionally to disrupt this community radio project”.
From now on, we are going to be alert and watchful to prevent those attacks from happening again, said Greer.
