Valdosta.- WFAG 89.7 FM blackout after the severe damage caused by the later thunderstorm and flooding caused to its faculty and transmitter.
The community radio station was affected by lightning hitting its feeding line and transmitter, causing the station RF power degradation until it reached 0.
“it is very sad, but Friday the transmitter definitely died.” said Paula Greer, the general Manager of Valdosta Alliance Inc. According to Greer the current of the lightning during the thunderstorm provokes it to fail.
This community radio station is vital for the Hispanic Community as news source, educational and christian programming living in Valdosta and Lowndes County.
