Valdosta Alliance Inc. (VAI) reports that its radio station 89.7 FM, is being interfered with by illegal broadcasts, seeking to minimize the impact of the community radio project in Valdosta and Lowndes County.

"Evil people are behind these illegal broadcasts," said the Valdosta Alliance.

Valdosta Alliance Inc. is an independent Valdosta Radio organization, which powered the first community radio station SUPRA 89.7, serving Hispanic audiences in South Georgia.

The nonprofit organization said that since it began its programming in 2024, the station has been systematically subjected to undesirable interference, which led it to change frequency from 103.7 to 89.7 FM. However, our station is once again experiencing the same type of interference on the new 89.7 FM frequency.

According to the VA, "This felony cannot be tolerated or allowed."

These interference have specific names (boycotts). VAI have been notifying those responsible to desist from their malicious practices. So far, the interference persists. They are ignoring our notifications.

The organization is working hard to track and locate these illegal sources of broadcasting, as any unauthorized broadcasting is therefore illegal, according to FCC regulations.

89.7 FM is the official radio station of the Hispanic community in Valdosta, providing news, entertainment, cultural, and Christian programs to promote the Christian faith. This radio service is vital for Latino community as a source of information and weather alerts.

“Being clear, 89.7 FM does not represent a real competition to any existing media outlet in Valdosta-Lowndes County.”, said VAI.
